Sowing the Seed

I learned something in my Bible Study this morning that I want to share with you. I am in the midst of Beth Moore's study Stepping Up. Today I studied Psalm 126. Psalm 126:5-6 says "Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. Though one goes along weeping, carrying the bag of seed, he will surely come back with shouts of joy, carrying his sheaves." How often do we actually sow the seed?

Beth used this analogy that I can't get out of my mind. She and her husband traveled to Angola to do relief work and draw attention to the tens of thousands of malnourished people there. Their friend told them that one of the most frustrating things about that situation is that the rural people will eat the seed they are given instead of planting it and reaping a harvest. How often do we do that?

Some of us (me, in particular) just eat the seed and never sow it for a harvest. Why do we choose to remain in condemnation? Why do we apply biblical truth to our theologies without applying it to actual life? Why would we choose to do that, eat the seed, rather than harvest it? God promises is Psalm 126 that if we harvest what we have sown, we will reap with shouts of joy! Why would we choose otherwise? I am humbled at this thought! I do not want to eat the seed - I want to sow it! Even if it means I will sow in tears, because I know that my God is faithful! He will never, ever leave or forsake me!

I am reminded today, on this Valentine's Day, that the Lord truly is my one true love. He is the only one I can ALWAYS count on! He has given me Sam as my precious Valentine today. He has blessed me with two healthy boys! Without my Father God, I would be so lost! I would not have the blessings of today without Him!

Be blessed! Sow the seed! Happy Valentine's Day!

That was AWESOME!!! God is so good, isn't He!!! I would love to participate in a Beth Moore bible study but haven't been able to find one. She really knows how to "hit home". I hope you have a great Valentine's Day and weekend.
Love you,
